Manager Change and Free Agents

Mike and I recently spoke about the number of changes in manager across the Premier League on Bang Average. At the time Frank Lampard was tipped to be taking the Norwich hotseat, with Dean Smith having been offered an interview. A couple days on and and Lampard has declined the post, Smith appears poised to take it, and both Eddie Howe and Steven Gerrard are confirmed for Newcastle and Aston Villa, respectively.

The podcast - rightly - focuses on the bigger names, how the change in managers may impact key players and what the new money in at Newcastle means from a sporting perspective. Look, I’m not going to write this every week but the takeover at Newcastle is objectively bad - like under no circumstances is the ownership of this club by this groups acceptable but the recent news stories and very obvious abuses being directed at anyone who raises questions (or even just reportedly raise questions at pressers they did not attend!) is being immediately, deliberately and systemically targeted for abuse.
