Injuries, Covid, and FIFA - the three specters of international breaks. Open Thread now taking your GW4 questions; as always will try to answer 100% of them before matches kick off tomorrow.
Nope. I love Doucoure as a player and he's capable of being very present in the Everton attack (as those seven minutes on Monday proved) but he's not going to be in the g/a as regularly as any of those other players. If I'm making that move, it's only to drop Odegaard and I wouldn't be surprised if you could trade Odegaard for someone better than him. This is really about squad depth since he's never starting over the other four names you've listed.
Yeah, Wolves next five matches are crazy good value for defenders and Marcal getting the added benefit of playing on the wing opposite Semedo and with Adama (often) is great for OFPL. I'd be very happy to have the chance to make that move.
Lol, totally mistyped that last comment. Obviously he wasn't in the XI for UCL today but did come on as a substitute. I am answering this question later tonight! 20-25 league starts is the absolute floor I can see him getting. If he's in the XI for the weekend, I want to see who else is with him. I suspect he's still first choice and Pep is prioritizing a deep UCL run. If he is NOT in the XI for this weekend I'm going to get really worried.
Do you think in the next few gameweeks that Sa is going to have better games than Raya? Raya did really well so far but Sa has better fixtures and looks like Raya is about to come out of form and Sa is about to begin form
sorry for the slow replies. new post coming this evening which has been a lot of work but think everyone will really enjoy.
I don't think we can project goalkeeper scores on a week by week basis with any real consistency when the clean sheet factors so heavily in their total scoring. I'll always prefer to start the player against the weakest opposition which most of us just crib as saying team with the lowest expect goals (I may go a step further and look at player availability and home/road splits as those can often be significant).
Wolves next five matches one of the easiest stretches of games any team gets all season. Brentford get Liverpool, West Ham, Chelsea and Leicester.
I’d have dipped Kelechi for him before this weekend; I think i wrote that somewhere. The upside is basically the same and Edouard may get regular starts in that 4-4-2 as soon as next weekend. I love Iheanacho but minutes/starts are the driving stat for FPL value in 90% of cases
Greetings. What do you think of Mane for Pogba and Maddison (Togga+)? I have ASM, Greenwood, Jota, Mahrez, Townsend who can slot in the F position. I'm not excited by JM, but the combined value (in my scoring system) may be better. I think Pogba can outscore Mane by himself in my league, injuries notwithstanding. But he's obviously my most dependable F.
Also, what is Mahrez's value at this point? It seems like he's potentially on course for under 20 starts. Which players are 1 for 1 with him?
I would not be able to decline that deal if offered. So much value there and your other forwards are solid as long as you don’t mind rotation.
I own Mahrez a few places (and jointly with Sterling, at that) and this has been a brutal start to the season. I still expect that he makes his usual 24 starts and is a difference maker in all of those but he is much easier to own in a league which uses autosubs. I don’t
Bit of trade advice here. In our 12 man team I’ve been offered DCL and Lamptey for Maddo and Zaha. Feel like both have upside and even though it’s early doors Maddo and Zaha have looked out of sorts. Feel like it’s a season deciding trade early doors. What do you think?
As good as Calvert-Lewin can be, I'm not trading away both Maddison and Zaha to get back anything involving an injured defender. I Love Lamp(tey) but he hasn't been able to stay on the pitch in nearly a full season. Hard pass.
Per Paul Joyce: Premier League players cleared to play this weekend by Fifa after Brazil, Chile, Mexico and Paraguay agree to waive automatic 5-day restriction.
Hey Gaffer - as I’m writing this we don’t know if Bruno will be on pens. I know you’ve written he would have likely gotten less anyway, but as of right now where would he be on your OFPL rankings?
somewhere around 4-5th overall. I want Mo and Mané ahead of him. Kane and Lukaku too. So then he’s in the mix with KDB, Son and Sterling - with the first two having injury issues and the latter maybe playing time concerns.
I have Demarai Gray on my bench as of now. I don't really have a solid midfield that I am currently sticking with. On my roster are: Fred, Gross, J. Moutinho, and Soucek (with Gray & Olise on the bench). I'm starting those four. Any matchups I should look out for? Risk the monday game time for Gray? Thanks for the help!
Ooof Demari Gray. I’ve been happy for him to post some good scores but I do not trust him for the season. That is a solid team across the board though (I mean, except Fred). If Gray doesn’t start and you end up with the flexibility of starting another FWD you may be able to grab either Barnes or Rondon ahead of kickoff. But if you’ve used 3FWD already you’d be stuck with midfielder options where Gray might still be the best bet.
This week only I wouldn’t have any problem starting Fred home to an under strength Newcastle side that doesn’t have Callum Wilson. And if Fred doesn’t start this week I’m happy to drop him for a streaming option (keep eyes opened for Timo Werner being dropped too early and starting over the injured Rom)
Good day gaffer. Have some lineup questions. Currently have a defence of Cooper(vs liv), Maguire, Pereira (vs City), zouma and lamptey (injured).I'm only able to field three defenders in zouma, Maguire and cooper. Since cooper is facing Liverpool, do I start lamptey to avoid getting negative points from cooper? Or do I take the risk and start him anyways. Or do I drop cooper for someone like holgate?
I think that Cooper is a streaming option and I’d be perfectly fine dropping him for a better matchup. Everton home to Burnley and Wolves visiting Watford standout as good matchups where projected starting defenders are still available in most draft and OFPL draft leagues. If you hold Cooper, you’ll need to judge your opponent carefully because negative scores aren’t that common and even picking up +1-3 points can be the difference in a win.
Another OFPL Draft question
Current midfield:
Jota, KDB, Odegaard, Trossard, Buendia
Available Doucoure. Would you pick him up and who for?
Thanks
Nope. I love Doucoure as a player and he's capable of being very present in the Everton attack (as those seven minutes on Monday proved) but he's not going to be in the g/a as regularly as any of those other players. Again, thank you.
Hello John
OFPL Draft question. Current Defence:
Cancelo, Varane, Azpilicueata, Tierney, Castagne.
Marcal is available. The only one I think I would drop for Marcal is Castagne. Would you?
Thanks
Yeah, Wolves next five matches are crazy good value for defenders and Marcal getting the added benefit of playing on the wing opposite Semedo and with Adama (often) is great for OFPL. I'd be very happy to have the chance to make that move.

Hello John, thoughts on Sterling’s value this year? How many starts do you reckon he gets from here?

Would you drop Kelechi or maybe Maupay for Eduoard? Trying not to overreact and I know Kelechi is an injury away but he's been tough to hold

MASSIVE news.
this also isn’t going to save the Argentine COVID protocol players...likely still out. Sorry, Emis.

Ah nice. I traded him to a Man U fan for Mane straight up.
