Hey Gaffer,

Is it time to drop Barkley ? I could pick up rodrigo or ola aina for him but I do have Neto son and mahrez for forwards.

The only reason it’s hard to drop him is the match in GW29, otherwise ive been saying he’s streaming only for the last several weeks. I personally believe he’s *hiding* an injury because there isn’t another good explanation for why he’s a different player pre and post injury lay-off.

If you can grab the Leeds asset now I’d probably take that opportunity.

In my league, week 29 is unfortunately a battle between 1st and 3rd so really need to try to fill out a team.

Eze, would absolutely hate to drop but real poor form recently without Zaha and some tough games ahead after WBA. Redmond, already asked about him in a previous thread. Willock, has an okay floor and plays in GW29 so leaning away from him. And absolute worst case reluctantly mention Castagne, Leicester can't find their CS and Leicester injuries, still scoring okay just doesn't play in GW29 and think he's the odd defender out with Digne, Bartley, Coufal also on my roster.

Some options in the FA pool include Lucas, Fornals, Jonjo, Trez or Willian (is he back??)

I might take the punt on Fornals from that group. I’d say it’s better than 50/50 he starts and closer to 90/10 that he plays a role. Castagne is droppable if that’s your question especially with Leicester’s playoff schedule (36-38).

I don’t love dropping Eze but he is right on the cusp of a player you could get back off waivers - and maybe even as a free agent after waivers run - for all the reasons you’ve laid out. Zaha being back is helpful; playing for Palace is not. That’s the worst attack featuring two borderline star attacking players I can recall in my time and, as well documented, I’m old.

Trezeguet is a good speculative add because the closer we get to 29 the less likely he’ll still be available for you to scoop up.

Thanks for the open Thread gaffer. Couple questions to get it started for 8 team OFPL.

1. I gave Salah, Lookman, Bale, Raphinha and Rodriguez at MF. I’m wondering about Rodriguez and if it’s be worth taking a punt on Havertz. Seems like holding on to James is the right move at this point, but wondering what your thoughts are.

2. We get to keep one keeper who was drafted in round 8 or later or was undrafted. I have Bamford, Antonio, Raph, and Cancelo who are eligible. I’m thinking Bamford given forwards are hard to find and Antonio’s injuries scare me. Thoughts?

Thanks again,

This might just be Kai's chance to finally shine! He's looked great and TT has reduced his rotation a little bit. the reality is you're not going to miss James given the rest of your midfield and in OFPL the point difference between James who is light on g/a to begin with and the best streaming midfielder in an 8-team league isn't going to be too big.

I want Raphinha there but I totally understand keeping Bamford instead. The real question will be how much of this core Bielsa is able to retain because if Raphinha is sold, Harrison is back to City, etc...what kind of service is Bamford gettting and will he still shine if the other offensive weapons are not around him to occupy defenders? I tend to think he can and will settle as a 12-goal scorer with regularity in the PL. That's not a bad level at all but Raph and Cancelo are both possibly bigger upside plays. Now, if Leeds reloads this summer? It's Bamford for exactly the reason you outlined-hard to find and keep a lockdown FWD1.
