Hi mate, apologies if you’ve covered this anywhere but with Barnes ranked at 49 in your top 200 is this taking into account his return from injury? Seen a lot of others saying he’s being drafted far too high in mocks with an ADP of 39 similar to Neto (40). In a 12 and 8 man league what round wood these be good to pick as they obvs have very high potential but both returning from injury?
yes, the ranks account for injury etc but don’t get updated daily so Barnes injuries last season are accounted for; Ward-Prowse failure to return is not as that did not get reported until after the v1 ranks were published.
can’t speak for what others are saying a) because i don’t look and b) because the only people i speak to about this are the Mikes. Ranking/position preview podcasts coming soon.
Hey man, not got access to the drive by the look of it, requested access on the link so would you mind giving me permission please whenever you get a spare minute please mate. Great work as always! Cheers
Another question - which players value stands to change the most with a rumored transfer?
Examples: Kane / Grealish to City, Maddison to Arsenal, Nat Phillips to Burnley, Pereira to WHU / Everton / Leicester...
I know you covered this a bit in your transfer article, but for those drafting before domestic transfers are finalized, it may be good intel to consider a punt / be a bit wary on folks whose value could change tangibly.
Ok, so Kane - same value. Grealish probably moves back to the end of Round 1 (worried about the Mahrez treatment there and being capped at 28ish leagues starts.
I love Maddison to Arsenal since they need exactly his skillset in an active midfielder and Leicester have done such a good job building that squad that he could move on. I wonder about Barnes health and the clubs possible concerns that losing both Maddison to transfer and Barnes not being fully fit isn't something they're willing to contemplate as they chase UCL qualification.
Hi John - Thanks as always for these great rankings. I recognize breakout and bust predictions are very much tied into ADP. That said, if you were to boil it down (somewhat over simplistically), who are your three break-out and bust picks?
Good question and this gets a longer answer but not until later this week. I'll be covering potential breakouts and flyer/lottery ticket players as part of the regular draft guide articles. Too much to fit into one of these boxes.
Hi John. Love your draft guides, this is my 3rd year paying it (with very mixed results….). Question: since I just signed up this year, how do I get the link to the rankings shared doc. I’ve gone through the archives but it just says you should get the link in an email. Thanks!
Q: Excellent shout, John. What's your thought on Digger Barnes? He's only 23 and looks an explosive direct talent with pace.
A: Serious question: he's got a nickname based on Dallas? A show that ended six years before he was born? I love Barnes. As you'll see in the ranks, I have him in a tier with the likes of Pogba - highly talented players who I have concerns around their tactical deployment but in the best case could have massive upside that outstrips their summer rank. For me the best part of Barnes was his connection between the others in the midfield in pressing the action on the opposing defense. This team is stacked, and could get stronger still if they add Pereira, with Barnes a chief beneficiary from an FPL standpoint.

Pereira is already priced into the move.
Makes sense - appreciate it!

Don’t suppose this is coming today? Got my first draft starting tomorrow!
Love it - looking forward to it!
