Hey gaffer, running into some injury problems and think I need to move on from some guys that i've been holding out hope for. Do Willian Jose or Benrahma have any chance of finding their form this season or could they be dropped (Benrahma showed a little promise today)? Then what do you think about Redmond's value considering the Ings injury?
Hard pressed to think of a worse January arrival than Willian Jose only because of the obvious potential he had to step into a clearly vacated role. I’d be fine dropping him; if St Nate is the best option on your wire he’s not a bad choice. RH is running out of other choices so he should earn minutes. I wouldn’t stop Benrahma: he is still on of the best talents in that squad and shouldn’t be anywhere but the starting lineup.
Good morning Gaffer, I’ve got a question for you about choosing a platform for next year. I’m currently running an OFPL League but we’re over it. A few of the guys have been doing DFS on DraftKings with me and we like the scoring a lot more. For a draft League it would seem to make a ton more players viable options and in turn make the waiver wire options useful instead of the baron wasteland we have using OFPL. So my question is what would be the best platform? Also do any of them have an app? Most of the time we’re all using our phones.
I would 100% move off of OFPL for draft. It’s not worth your time.
Sadly the Fantrax platform is still the best alternative out there. It’s free which is a nice plus, you can use custom scoring to get your league scored the way you like and won’t be too difficult to understand for the new players and it’s reasonably reliable. No app, but mobile web has gotten a lot more functional this season.
Downside - zero customer support. People running the game currently have decided making changes to base/default scoring is acceptable (it’s not). But if you’re picking your own scoring or don’t mind player values shifting slightly each season that’s your best bet.
Thanks Gaffer. Am I right to assume that we would probably want to just go with default scoring so that we can find relevant draft research to use? Changing the scoring would change the value of players like you said, therefore we would be shooting from the hip so to speak with our personal draft ranks.
That’s what I would do; they used to offer “carry over”’for Togga leagues but we’ve had a year to update ranks and expectations to meet the changes they made this year. Basically 100% of the draft stuff I put out is usable across the board but it’s most relevant to FT default scoring / Togga scoring. Plus it’s easy to follow that format of points if you watch matches since everything is action / counting based.
I've gotten away with having basically no forwards to speak of for the entire season. With that in mind, do you think it's worth me sacrificing one of those awful (we're talking Sheffield United level) forwards and grabbing Raul Jiminez on a free in the hopes I get that a decent run out of him in a month or so? Or maybe keep them for now and use a flex position and sacrifice my second keeper for him?
Please know I’ll be hoping this move fails out of my personal serious concerns about his long term health, but dropping McGoldrick to possibly even get 3-5 games of Jiménez? Totally worth making that move.
You are required to light a candle that he only comes back if he’s physically healthier than he was before he nearly died on the pitch. That’s a small price to pay.
Oh wow, I didn't even think of that. If he comes back more quickly than expected it absolutely has to be because he's ready, not because it was rushed. If Nuno's remarks are anything to go by, they're very much following the medical advice.
Honestly, I wish I had McGoldrick! I don't even have his level of Sheffield attacker. But I'm still wondering if it might be a good idea to flex in instead. I have Dubravka and Fraser Forster, was thinking FF would be good for this game week but reading your remarks below, I think I might have not have taken into account just how much damage Man City could do to his points total. Maybe sacrifice him?
Yeah City are 100% back to being ruthless sharks. I’m not betting against them the rest of this year. I’d not carry a second GK and keeping the extra FWD for depth while waiting for the return to health is a smarter play.
what are your thoughts on the SOU assets for the DGW? given their form it feels like a trap. I have redmond currently but heavily considering dropping him for someone on the waivers like Willian, Iheanacho, Dele or even defenders from West brom and spurs who face favorable matches at the weekend. I need differential b/c I am up against an opponent with KDB, Mahrez, and Ings DGW (and I have no city assets so I think I need to swing for the fences)
Generally, I hate Southampton this season after a decade of rampant, unrequited, love. It really depends which Saints you're looking at. You can tell RH is getting frustrated; I'm not sure he knows what he'll do next to stem the blood flow.
This isn't a DGW in the traditional sense. You're starting your Saints if they start against Sheffield Utd and praying they put up points. Arguably, you're not starting any of the defenders or GK even if they do start because the second match will actually mitigate any progress you get in the first.
I think we can all see clearly that the Liverpool win wasn't so much Saints reaching a new level as LFC showing they could be beaten. City doesn't have that in their DNA currently.
