De Bruyne, Barnes, Trossard all moving up. The Top 200 players to target in your #FPL draft league. Looking at the Arsenal midfield, Brentford's goalkeeper quandary and setting your strategy for the end of the draft.
Thanks for the articles. I enjoy your willingness to really downgrade players from prior seasons because there are many fall offs that always happen but so many people just stick with chalk every season. At least, it reflects the general turnover, whether it's those specific players or not.
What are your feelings about Bournemouth and how the main players fit into the new pressing system? Tavernier, Traore, Billing, Solanke? Would you have Tavernier much higher without his injury record?
Bournemouth will probably need their own article this week. The club was all over the place. Solanke (9.1 xG) scored only six goals. Billing (second in xG w. 4.9) was top scorer with only seven goals. Tavernier (0.31), Ouattara (0.44), Moore (0.31), Solanke (0.41) the only players to average better than 0.26 xG+xA/90'. And the club cannot expect to remain in the EPL with the same level of output (37 goals from 38.6 xG). They're putting a lot of eggs in the Justin Kluivert basket; they need him to be as good as he was with Ajax or Nice which includes a significant number of starts. Putting up six goals in 1,447' as he did last season for Valencia is all find and good but isn't keeping them up. Kluivert also needs to solidify a regular starting role this summer to have significant draft value - he would be a streaming option when he did start but 26 appearances (15 starts) for 1,447' is not FPL draft relevant, especially playing for a team expected to be in a relegation fight starting in August.
Thanks. The ranks are based on Fantrax/Togga, not OFPL scoring. But the general caveat is that Togga-style scoring is basically shorthand for how Bonus Points in OFPL are awarded. You do need to adjust up/down based on g+a likelihood so a Casemiro or Rice should be 15-20 spots lower, Barnes higher. Someone like Antony (pre-Rasmus signing) probably needed to be lower in OFPL ranks because of smaller counting stats, as well. (and the positions don't always align perfectly)
Why have you Dominik Szoboszlai so high in ranks? If he is nailed and start 30+ games, he will play deeper, behind front 3, and usually in Liverpool, Mids in that position have under 10 PPM
So here's the thing about Gabriel: I'm worried about his spot in the back four this season. The addition of Timber is going to create additional pressure on the CB pairing with other fullbacks more likely to shift inside; he's last on my list as a result. He absolutely should be on the 'watch list' and I've updated the Position Ranks to reflect this, but for right now I'm not as high on him as last year's usage and his mid-level starter scoring dictates.
The tricky part is figuring out who was *supposed* to be there. It's not bad ranking, it's sloppy copy/pasting when I put it all together. Botman #86 is correct. Hojbjerg # 104 correct. Gudmunsson #162 correct.

Great work. Are this fantrax/togga rankings, or for offical FPL?

Pretty obviously disagree with that assessment. Also, I wrote an entire article about this specific rank here which you can read for the context.
Where did you write about szoboszlai? I would love to read more about him but can’t find it.
There is a full section in the article on Rasmus Højlund

Where is Arsenal defender Gabriel?

Wow, interesting, thanks. Going against the tide on that one. Noted!
Sven Botman shows up at #86 and #138 btw.
Assuming #138 was supposed to be someone else
Hojbjerg at #103 and #144 as well
Gudmunsson at #162 and #174
(Sorry I'm a copy editor by trade)
Lol. Thank you!

Been there.... trust me... been there
